Wellness programs earn honors for Dayton-area companies

Before a crowd of 156 people, 15 Dayton businesses were honored with the Dayton Business Journalas Healthiest Employers award, which honors companies that take initiative for the health and wellness of their employees. The took place Thursday morning at the Hilton Garden Inn South-Austin Landing. Photos: Click here for photos of the awards event and expo . Some use incentives, some use competition, but many say that the longer theyave been involved in wellness, the more results theyave seen in their employees. Scott McGohan , CEO of presenting sponsor McGohan Brabender, said that, amid rising health care costs, businesses need to take an increased focus on the health of their employees, not only to improve quality of life, but to cut down on health care expenses. aWe need an army of people like the ones in this room to make a difference,a McGohan said. The event also featured a health and wellness expo where several fitness and wellness-related businesses such as Club 51 Fitness, Shumsky/Boost Rewards, The Reiki Room and Delta Dental showcased their services for employees. Other exhibitors included Anthem, CompuNet Clinical Laboratories , Earth Fare, Holten Wellness Clinic, Indiana Wesleyan University, Kettering Health Network , Personally Fit, Studio Eleven and Wellvibe. aItas good to have visibility among companies that have such a focus on employee wellness,a said Kim Stanforth , director of marketing and communications at CompuNet Clinical Laboratories, one of the companies that received an award.
